Our Story

In one sense, Just4Bars began in 2019 in Oklahoma.

Our founders, Marcus and Briana Washington, formed the company as graduate students studying food science and microbiology and nonprofit leadership.

That year, they created and refined the signature Just4Bars recipe.

They were finalists in a food innovation competition that became a platform for bringing consumers healthy, affordable snack bars.

But, in another sense, Just4 has been a part of Marcus and Briana’s story for generations.

Their family histories fueled the desire to feed their community, a passion for food made with natural ingredients, and a hope for making nutrition education accessible to all.

In particular, Marcus’s family members, who were once enslaved, then sharecroppers and farmers, instilled this sense of purpose.

And also through Briana’s father, who worked daily in the dairy industry to provide for her family.

Honoring their efforts, hard work, and heritage of caring for people through food spurred the couple to create Just4Bars.

Vegetarian & Paleo

Just4Bars are naturally vegetarian and paleo by nature. Many delicious snack bars include egg whites, preservatives, or other additives, but not ours. In each Just4 bar, you’ll find just four delicious natural ingredients that suit most dietary needs.

Affordable

To fulfill our mission to provide healthy and wholesome food for our communities, we strive to keep the price of Just4Bars low. We aim to offer a small batch, quality product sold at the lowest sustainable prices.

Gluten-Free

Providing a healthy snack option for all means considering the special dietary needs common today. By design, Just4Bars are naturally gluten-free, and we offer some products free of the most common food allergens. We’re proud to provide options free of wheat, eggs, peanuts, soybeans, and other allergens.
